Flatsharing shouldn't be a lottery
Almost everyone has a story about an impossible flatmate. And every one of those flats, at the time, seemed like a good decision.
Why we exist
Finding a room is a solved problem. There are huge portals with thousands of listings, maps, filters and alerts. You can find twenty rooms in your budget in an afternoon.
What nobody solves is the question that actually decides how your year goes, which isn't “how big is the room?” but “am I going to be happy living with these people?”.
Roomealo starts there and leaves the home for later. That's the whole product — this is how it works — and it's also everything we're not.
What we believe
Upfront about cost
Roomealo is free today. If anything ever becomes paid, we'll say so clearly and before it affects you.
Always explain
A percentage without a reason is worth nothing. Every recommendation comes with where you align, where friction is likely, and one concrete question to raise it.
No right answers
The living compatibility test doesn't measure whether you're a good flatmate, it measures how you live. If it had right answers, everyone would give them and the whole thing would stop working.
Fewer people, better matched
Rather than many, badly. A compatibility marketplace with volume and no judgement is just another portal, and there are several already.
What we won't do
- Handle tenancies, contracts or payments between you.
- Let just anyone message you: conversations open with mutual interest.
- Sell your data or show you third-party advertising.
- Present compatibility as an exact science.
- Use protected characteristics — origin, gender, religion — as matching criteria.
Who we are
Roomealo is built by Sergio Gualda from Madrid. It's a small project with no investors: one person, a test that's been tried in real flatshares, and the conviction that the next flatshare can go better than the last one. This page will grow as more people get involved.
