Quiet Nest
Home is for resting.
You like coming home to a calm flat. You're not antisocial — you just keep going out and life at home separate.
One of Roomealo's eight living profiles. If you recognise yourself, you probably are one.
Lives well with
Tidy people, low noise, who respect personal space.
Watch out for
Living with someone who makes home their social hub.
How someone with the Quiet Nest profile lives
You're up early and out early, and the flat barely notices. Back in the evening, you cook something simple, wash up straight away and head to your room with the door pulled to. The living room is somewhere you pass through rather than settle in. If a flatmate is on the sofa you'll say hello, maybe chat for a minute, and then carry on. By eleven the lights are off and you'd like the flat to sound like it.
Living with you is easy on the senses. Nothing of yours is left in the kitchen, the bathroom is as you found it, the telly is never on for background. You pay on time and you don't need managing. When something bothers you, you tend to say so within a day or two, calmly and once, rather than letting it stew or turning it into a house meeting. People who value peace find you a relief.
What costs you is other people's volume, in every sense. Guests who arrive unannounced, a speaker in the kitchen at ten, someone's partner who has quietly moved in. You won't make a scene, but you'll withdraw further, and a flatmate who reads that as coldness will be half right. You also share less than most: your shelf is your shelf. In a household that runs on “help yourself”, you can come across as stiff without meaning to.

What to ask at the viewing if you're a Quiet Nest
- 1.How often do people have friends round in the evening, and how late does it usually go?
- 2.What does a normal weeknight look like here after about ten, in terms of noise?
- 3.How is the kitchen organised: does everyone have their own cupboard and shelf, or is it all in together?
