Quiet Owl
You live at night, and softly.
Your best hours start when the flat has gone quiet. You make little noise and you'd rather nobody made it either.
One of Roomealo's eight living profiles. If you recognise yourself, you probably are one.
Lives well with
Calm night people, or flatmates who are rarely home.
Watch out for
Early risers making breakfast at 7am.
How someone with the Quiet Owl profile lives
Your day starts when the flat's winding down. You come home in the late afternoon or evening, keep to yourself while others are cooking, and properly get going after eleven, when the kitchen is empty and nobody needs the bathroom. You work, read or watch things with headphones on, and you move through the flat like someone who doesn't want to be heard. Mornings are for sleeping, ideally until the last door has closed.
You're one of the least intrusive people anyone will live with. You use the shared spaces when they're free, you leave them as you found them, and you'll never be the one hosting. Your room is your world and you don't expect anyone to look after you. Because you keep your things separate and your bills paid, your flatmates can go a week without seeing you and nothing goes wrong. In a busy flat, you're the calm bit.
The trade-off is that you're mostly invisible, and invisible people don't get consulted. Decisions get made at dinner while you're out, and you find out from the whiteboard. Early risers are your natural enemy: a kettle and a radio at seven undoes your night, and you're not great at saying so — you'll lose sleep for weeks before you mention it. A flatmate who wants a house that feels like a family will read you as absent, and be a bit hurt.

What to ask at the viewing if you're a Quiet Owl
- 1.What time does the first person get up on a weekday, and how much of the flat can you hear from the bedrooms?
- 2.Where would I be able to make a snack or a coffee at one in the morning without waking anyone: which walls are shared with which rooms?
- 3.How do people here usually sort things out, in person over dinner or on the group chat? I'm often not around at dinner time.
